i3 vs i5 in the long run on a budget

I am getting a new gaming computer soon, and I was set on getting an Intel i3-4330. Then I saw some games not even working with dual core CPUs, which made me reconsider if I should get an i3 or try to future proof a bit with an i5. I planned on upgrading eventually, but not anytime soon after I got my build. What should I do?

i3-4330 or i5-4440? Or maybe something else?

Actually , it depends on when you will upgrade next and with what budget

if you will upgrade within an year / 2 get a hyperthreaded i3 saving for your future build (you still get 4 cores) or if you plan on 4 years and such maybe the i5
