Dragon Age Inquisitions frames aren't going past 58?

Hello. I'm a huge fanboy of the Dragon Age series. Was waiting for this game for a few years now since DA 2 was, well, bad in a way.

I ran it. And it never goes above 58. And the lowest was 29. I tried low settings and even spent an hour two trying to fix it. I'm pretty sure I exceed recommended requirements.

Here's my specs: http://i.imgur.com/aCn1r4k.png
My PSU is a ModXStream Pro 700W. (I had originally bought a 1000w for the rig two years ago, but we found out that it was simply overkill. Still don't believe it though.)
CPU cooler is a COOLER MASTER V8. (Can't get any more information of it tonight)

**At the time when I made/bought this rig; I found out that the motherboard is picky with memory. Very picky. So I had to go with not so great sticks. (low budget)

I had thought it might be my memory or GPU. Can't the 780 run it fine? I'm also worried the same thing might happen with FarCry 4 or even worse. So is it the memory or GPU? Maybe even the PSU?

vsync was never on though. I turned MSAA off as soon as I noticed frame loss. Which was the first 10 minutes into the game.
Sorry for not adding these small details though.

I can't really screenshot right now, but I did test the temps a day ago and nothing was really wrong.
A few friends of mine said it might be my memory or GPU. I don't think it's overheating or something of the like.

It could very well be your ram, but it is important to know the usage percentage of the gpu and cpu to determine the issue.
If your gpu usage is a lot lower than 100% then the issue would most likely be your cpu or ram.

Since I'm almost home, I'll have to test them as soon as I get inside.

I'll re-edit this post or create a new one, with a screenshot of the temps?

Returned on MSAA and put everything on Ultra. No vsync though.

It's a shame about your RAM, super high frequency won't make a difference but 1066MHZ ram or above is where I'd prefer to be.

Overclock that CPU buddy! I have a 2600K clocked at 4.4GHZ and it makes a huge difference in mmo's and CPU intensive games such as Dragon Age: Inquisition. - I'd wager that your CPU should be able to hit 4.5GHZ on stock voltage, or close enough.

your GPU is perfectly fine, I'm running a 780Ti.

Also, I'm going to suggest that the next Dragon Age patch will provide a little better optimisation, as even with my setup i'm seeing some undesirable frame rates in game and in cut scenes (cut scene frame rate problem is a known bug, with a command line fix for now.)

for comparison I'm running the following:

Res: 2560x1600
i7 2600K @ 4.4ghz
16GB DDR3 1333MHZ
GTX 780Ti 3GB

And even I'm seeing frame rates under 60 in this game, especially in high populated areas.. I don't consider this game to be all that graphics intensive, so it's got to be a CPU bottleneck + bad optimisation.

Oh, ensure you have the latest nVidia drivers also, that helps.

P.S. - I keep reading 'usage' as 'sausage' this morning, I think I need a sandwich...

I was about to reply to your post and the previous one, but I just got a random BSOD.
Also, I have the latest Nvidia drivers. I can overclock it soon though, I would just like to fix any issues.

no probs, your PSU won't be the issue either trust me.

I hate random BSODs :( - have you looked at updating your motherboard Bios?

You know, I was in a similar situation for a long time with my motherboard, Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3... without fail, about 10 minutes into a game my PC would start randomly locking up for 1 second, every couple of minutes, the FPS would drop to about 5 and my sound would make a weird looping noise. - and the only way to 'fix' it was to restart... and then the problem came back every time I cold booted.

I tried -everything- to fix this problem, new RAM, new GPU, new PSU, new Hard Drives, Windows 8.1! ... after practically upgrading my whole machine I finally decided to fit a spare motherboard I had lying around (MSI, non gamer mobo), and BAM! the problem hasn't happened since, not once, no BSODs, nothing. just sweet sweet smooth PC Gaming.

I really didn't want to have to replace my mobo either, that thing cost so much! :(

Anyway, sob story over. ;D

First time using MSI afterburner though. I also didn't think my motherboard would be a problem..

Frames increased by 3 which is better than before. Even if it's 3. Thanks.
