I just bought a Dell Workstation T5500 and it came with a AMD Firepro V5900. I switched it out for my R7 250 Graphics card that is more for gaming. When I go to download the drivers and the AMD Catalyst Control Center (which I guess you have to have to download the drivers) It goes through the install process and then tells me that the install failed. Here is what it says exactly: "The AMD catalyst control center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the displays manager". I tried updating the graphics driver but it won't let me! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT ON THIS ONE! Also when I look at my system components in display or wherever it says im using just the standard vga adapter. No mention of my R7 250.

Solution

Right, it sounds like the driver uninstalled when you removed Catalyst. Now just run CCleaner to make sure it's completely gone. Restart and install the new driver package.

Im able to uninstall Catalyst but how do I uninstall the graphics driver? Wont I not be able to get any display at all if I do that? BTW Thank you for your quick reply I really appreciate it.

No, Windows will revert you to a default VGA driver. Your resolution will be messed up, but you will get a basic display.

You should be able to remove the driver via the "Device Manager"

Again thank you so much for your help. One more thing. So when I look in my device manager under display adapters the only thing listed is the standard vga adapter. So I don't want to uninstall that right? Does that mean there are no other drivers then?
