GTX 970 vs GTX 780Ti, in terms of performance?

I can get them at both the same price, so all that's left is performance.

I've seen many conflicting benchmarks on the 970 vs 780Ti battle, and I can't seem to pick which to buy.

I'll be playing on one monitor 1440p, but I'll have a second monitor for multitasking, but I don't think that matters.

What should I get?

The specific models I'm looking at are :
1) Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
2) Gigabyte GTX780 Ti OC
3) eVGA GTX780Ti Classified
4) eVGA GTX780Ti SC ACX

EDIT 1: I dont know which is 'better' i think its a close call, but just because its a new generation, and more drivers will come out, better support, more futureproof, and cheaper, i would get the 970

EDIT 2: but i would get the MSI twin frozr gaming

It's not just about the price of the card itself. You need to factor in the load on the PSU, and the heat in the case and the fans needed to control heat. The lower power of the GTX970 will reduce the stress on your system and reduce the chances of early heat-death of components and will give more overhead for other upgrades.

780Ti is basically a bit underclocked Titan Black. It will be more powerful now than 970 but I'd get 970 anyway - it seems more futureproof with a bit more memory and lower power usage. Also it's much cheaper and performance difference is not that big.

the GTX970 is the best bang for the buck and with the money u save u could get another one in SLI ALSO the GTX970 has 4gb of vram vs the 3gb on GTX 780 ti

it also has lower power consumption and can be Oc'ed around 1.4ghz~1.5GHZ

That's the GTX 970M, which is much less powerful than the desktop GTX970. It has only 1280 shaders for a start.
