migrating OS to new ssd

i currently have a 1tb western blue harddrive. my friend is telling me to buy a ssd and moving my operating system on there. are the programs used to migrate it safe and reliable? having my os on my ssd will make my chrome run faster? and if i only have my OS on my ssd, will my games on the hdd also run faster? please help thanks! im sorry i am new to the ssd area.
 
Solution
There are programs that will clone your data and move it to the SSD. It isn't guaranteed to work though an you might have to reinstall the OS on the SSD. As for games, load times will be shorter but that it about it.
