Will a 600w psu be enough for a r9 280x toxic?

600 W is enough, but im not fan of corsair CX/CM cheap PSU, they are merely Tier 3 PSUs. Would recommend another PSU based on where you lived to get the best for the money. Usually Antec HCG and XFX PSU are the cheapest good quality PSU.

750w is what sapphire specs say.
It is probably inflated to consider cheap psus that don't deliver advertised power.
The toxic is a highly overclocked version that takes more than the usual R9-280X
the two required 8 pin connectors at 150w each plus the 75w form the pci slot makes this particular card a 375w part.
It might work, but as you say, the cx is not considered a great psu.

I've seen OC'd 280X's hit 300W draw. Systems would be around 425-450. The CX600 can handle this load just fine. I don't see why he'd need more.

I said it wasn't great, not that it can't handle it's rated output. I still have yet to see a review of any CX unit fail to output what it claims. These are Corsair CX units, not Athena power or Diablotek units.
