after a lot of failed attempts at upgrading my computer to windows 8.1, i finally upgraded it. but when i first tried to connect to the internet after the upgrade, i could not for windows said the router is not compatible with the computer so it could not connect. i tried pinging on cmd after i somewhat successfully connected to the router and the pings could get through. i just dont know why my browsers just cannot connect to the internet, chrome keeps saying that the website is down or has moved and IE just gives me a connection problem, which i know is not possible

i can connect through wireless. the drivers i tried to roll back, update and its still the same. windows keeps telling me that the drivers are the latest. i downloaded from another computer intel's driver updater and ran it but the updater just keeps crashing for no reason. i found out that i could access facebook, hotmail .etc through the start page but for some reason my browsers just cannot load the page. it keeps giving me the same thing. i checked the firewall settings it does allow my browsers to get through but still cannot load pages.
