Few questions about SSD

So I have two internal hdd's which both have intellipower rpm, one of them being my primary hdd atm.

If I got an SSD and wanted to make that SSD my primary hdd for booting my OS:

1) Would I need to reformat or could I do something in disk management options and somehow transfer OS's by partition?

2) Would this process erase all my data in my current hdd's when I make my SSD the primary hdd?

3) How would disc transfer speed work? Would transferring a file from my SSD to HDD be the same speed as transferring a file from HDD to SSD? Would my SDD struggle to transfer files to my HDD because they have low rpm?

4) What should be on my SSD? O.S and mostly software?

Would appreciate any help, thanks!

I used that program to transfer my boot partition to SSD, works wonders and quite quick, took maybe 40 minutes for 100 gigs.

Its real easy, just choose 'Migrate OS to SSD or HDD'.
Theres one requirement though. Your HDD boot partition can't be larger than your SSD.
If you can(if you have the free space left), you could resize your boot partition with diskmgmt.msc (windows-program). Say you have a 400 gig OS/Boot partition but only use 60 gigs. You could resize that to 65-70 gig and then move that to SSD. If you have just one partition on HDD...well, make more.

You don't need to reformat any harddrive to set the SSD as your primary boot harddrive. There is special software (usually your manufacturer can provide it on their website) which you can use to transfer/copy the entire contents of a harddrive to another. Copying only the OS is probably not possible since the SSD usually is a lot smaller than a harddrive and you can't copy only the OS. Your best bet is to simply make the SSD your primary boot drive in your BIOS and install windows and programs on it.
Speed from SSD to the harddrive is as fast as the harddrive goes, as is from the harddrive to the SSD. Transferring from the harddrive to the SSD will be alot faster since reading from the harddrive and writing to the SSD is alot faster than writing to the harddrive. The SSD will not struggle or have any problems.
Your SSD, depending on size, should have your OS (including pagefile) and your most used software. If it is large enough you can consider putting other stuff you use most.
