I5 4690
Asus h97 motherboard
Asus gtx 970
Corsair vengeance 2x4 GB ram
Cooler master 700 watts thunder PSU
Haf 912 cabinet
2tb WD HDD
Windows 8 pro
Dell 21.5 inch monitor s2240l

Since purchasing I had one problem of flickering and horizontal lines in the monitor .I set everything to avoid the problem like turning vsync adaptive and triple buffering on but didn't help I even tried to lower the settings but the lines did not disappear. I checked my cabinet the motherboard everything is connected well no problems I even updated the driver and reinstalled over 3 times bit never changed the flickering. Even on other games like watch dogs and metro last light the flickering appears .i use hdmi cable btw! It is of a good quality.is it my card defective? and it reaches the max temprature of 75° C is it a normal temperature? i have even re installed the drivers for 3 to four times .tried different versions of nvidia drivers too but nothing worked out. i noticed minimal screen tearing in benchmarking application like unigine valley and less demanding games like alien isolationand i thought buying a new pc will have no problems and can play games at 1080@60fps but if i knew this would happen then i would never bought a pc. what should i do?

Well, hard to say... It would be better if you knew for sure it's the GPUs fault...
But if you can make sure it is, then yes of course you should.

If you can't... I suppose you could still ask for a replacement, but then there is the risk that you get a new one and the problem is still there because it wasn't the GPUs fault after all...

Try to ask around if someone could lend you another GPU to test if the problem persists, but if you really can't test it anywhere, you should probably still ask for a replacement.

I hope you get it solved.

75°C is fairly normal.
Tearing that bad is definitely not...

I suppose it's possible your monitor or GPU is defective...
You should be able to get a refund if that's the case.
Try the monitor in another PC if you can and see if the tearing still appears.
The same with the GPU, if you can try another GPU and see if it's still tearing.

That way you can find out which part is the defective one...

I'm not sure what's wrong and I hope someone here can help you, but with a system THAT powerful, there is no way you should go PS4...
Your system is infinitely better than a PS4...

I have tried in different monitor but still have the screen tearing but i don't have any other gpu to try. i dont think its the gpu problem because if its a gpu problem then game would lag but all the games run smooth @ 60fps .what if it is a software problem :/ .yeah i know my pc can blow the ps4 out of the water ;) but still i am worried about my pc i have read lots of screen tearing issues on the pc fourms seems like its a common problem

It's absolutely not normal or common if you use V-sync...
I almost never use V-sync or any of the things that are supposed to reduce tearing and I still don't have any.

I really don't know what's wrong with your system though...

Screen tearing happens when the monitor shows information from more than one frame in a single frame.
There might be absolutely no FPS drops or lag, yet tearing can happen. So your GPU might be defective even if everything else seems fine.

I really don't see anything else that could be wrong. Nothing from what you've told me anyway...

You could try taking the GPU with you to a friends house or something and see if it makes the screen tear there as well. If so, you'll know for sure it's the GPU and you can get a replacement.

Oh and make sure all your parts are secured properly...
If the RAM for example isn't in it's place properly that can cause all sorts of problems.

I'm sorry you've had bad luck, but let me just say that PC problems usually really aren't that bad, you've just had bad luck.
So don't let your problem put you off PC gaming too badly :p

Not only can you get the best out of your game, almost all games are much cheaper.
I'm not saying PS4 isn't a good way to game, but if you already have a PC that good, you're missing a lot if you go with a PS4.
...Just saying.
