Save my OEM Win7 key with new hardware?

I have a new CPU and Motherboard on the way. I'm wondering what will happen if I throw the parts in without formatting. My copy of Win 7 is OEM, and I am switching from an AMD chip to a i5 intel chip. I plan to remove all AMD chipset drivers, and anything else I can find that is related to my current motherboard.

Solution
2 issues - operation and licensing.

1. Operation. It probably won't boot at all. Hardware is too different. So full reinstall.

2. Licensing. That OEM is tied to the original motherboard. You will almost certainly have to call MS, at least therough the phone robot, to get it activated on new hardware.

Yeah I'm thinking I may be out of luck dealing with Microsoft. They already released the key once for me a few years ago when I made a motherboard swap. At that time they told me the only reason they could do it was because the motherboard was very similar. Basically I told them my board died and had to be replaced. I'm going to try to do this first, but if it doesn't work I will just install my copy and get another one before the initial 30 days to activate are up.

PS: I never deal with the automated system. I call a number that takes me directly to an actual person. On the site that has the international phone numbers for MS support. The number to call from Canada can bypass the automated system.
