Stuck @ 4.1Ghz with Pentium G3258

Hi, this is my first time overclocking a CPU so bear with me. I bought a Pentium G3258 with a Z97 board and I've seen people reliably getting in excess of 4.5 Ghz but I seem to be stuck at 4.1 Ghz. I'd like to know whether it's my motherboard that's preventing me from going higher or something else (maybe I just got a "runt of the litter" CPU).

This is my setup:
Motherboard: MSI Gaming 3 Z97 (yes, it's the cheapest of the series so the problem might be there)
Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo
RAM: 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3
GPU: Radeon R7 250X

At 4.2 Ghz, the PC boots but is too unstable. Any higher than that and the motherboard starts throwing errors (A2 or 99) and refuses to boot until I reset the CMOS. I tried keeping the voltage on Auto in the BIOS, then raising it to 1.25V but with no luck. Am I missing something here?

Admirable
I would just stick with the 4.1, some chips are just better than others. Like I bought one as a fun little side project to see how far I could overclock it for fun with a custom $800 loop. It went really good until about 4.3, then I upped the voltage to about 1.37 and I just couldn't get it to boot past that 4.3, temps wouldn't of been an issue so I really pushed it on a really high end board. Then my friend buys one for his htpc and I overclock it for him and it was stable at 4.6 @ 1.27v on a evo cooler. So yeah chips vary a lot overclocking wise.

The mobo is not the problem (I think). Try 1.45V and 4.8GHz. And driver updates might help.

1.45V? ARE YOU MAD?

:D

I would not run a CPU 24/7 with that kind of voltage.
