Upgrading build from AMD to Intel, want to use same windows disk on new build

Okay so i currently have an AMD build, FX-8350 cpu, ASUS Sabretooth mobo etc. Im upgrading to an intel i7-4970k and an MSI Z97 mobo. Due to boot issues and compatability issues i know ill have to do some system prep. I also dont feel like buying windows 7 again for a new activation key which ive seen other people do but some say you dont have to, but others say you need a new product key, its getting messy so im here to flatten it out once and for all. What are the exact steps i need to take to ensure a smooth upgrade. Thank you in advance.

At the very least, you will need to reinstall the OS.
You may need to buy a new Win7 license.

If you currently have an OEM license, that is tied to that original motherboard. Changing that board and still using that license is completely up to Microsoft.

if its an OEM version of windows then you cant use it again. if its not an OEM version its possible to use it again
