Hi!

Kicking things off with my hardware specifications.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit SP1
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630; Propus 45nm Technology
RAM: 3.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard: Acer FRS780M (CPU 1)
Graphics: 1024MB ATI Radeon HD 5760 (ATI AIB)
Storage: 465GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKS-00V1A0 ATA Device (SATA)

(Grabbed this off speccy. I have no idea what any of these truly mean)

My computer has been really slow as of late. It started off with some cyclic redundancy errors, but that stopped popping up. Ever since, simple programs like Windows Explorer and MS Word always find themselves stuck in (Not Responding) states. Basically, lag where there shouldn't be lag.

What I would like to know is whether there's something wrong with my hard disk, and that the harddisk is causing all these lag problems in my computer, OR that my computer is just becoming obsolete in terms of specifications. I would like to get some of your input before I do anything I may regret.

Thank you so much in advance!

Additional information: 28 seconds to save a picture in Paint.exe. 1 minute 42 seconds in starting up MS Word. Lag in playing computer games but with 28ms ping...

is msconfig in the start up tab all you need is your video card software and wifi software and antivirus.
things like adobe updater and java updater can be turned off. also itunes and other apss that are not needed.
