Did my PSU die? (URGENT)

We've had some wind/thunder storms recently which has had an effect on our house (Other computers shut down, aircon turned off etc) but my computer staed on through it all. About a day or so later, my computer decided to shut down and not turn back on again. I tried removing other components and swapping stuff out but no luck, so i tried switching PSU's and it worked flawlessly. My only gripe is the fact that the PSU i had in there (which is miles better than the no-brand one i have in it now for testing) is barely a few months old and i believe it's a high tier psu Antec TruePower Classic 650w. Whenever i try and boot my computer with it, nothing turns on at all (Only motherboard light). If i put my ear up to the power supply, it makes a faint BOOP sound and kind of like a hard drive reading sound. "BOOP *2sec pass* BOOP *2secpass* BOOP". Is it really, dead?

sounds to me like its dead, but as good as any power supply can be, they don't last forever and i guess not everyone is going to last a good few years. do you still have the receipt for it if its only a few months old? if so have you tried taking it back under warranty?

power supply has died...but it saved your rig. brown outs and spikes are what kill computers. if you can never leave the pc on during a storm. if your in a area where it happens a lot then pick up a ups. it save the power supply in a brown out. your lucky is just the power supply i seen some mb be fried from power zaps from cable modems.

Ah that's disappointing =/. R.I.P Psu, so young. Yeah I should still have a proof of purchase, 5 year warranty for a 2 month old power supply lol.

you may as well try take the psu back, just tell them it stopped working all of a sudden. as long as they don't look into the psu too much you will be fine lol whats the worst they can say...no lol

Well good news... I returned the PSU with the receipt, they checked it on their test bench and it was clearly dead. They didn't have any of the Antec TruePower Classic in stock so I chose to replace it with the High Current Gamer 620M instead. They even gave back the money difference since it's a cheaper PSU. So yeah all good now, I actually kind of like this modular PSU better lol. Note to self: shut down everything during a storm.
