My little brother recently got him an xbox 360 but it has no main hard drive, just a 2.5gb hard drive in it.

So I got out my old Iomega network hard drive(250gb) and tried to connect it to my pc using a usb to format it to work for an xbox 360. The problem is that it does not show up on my pc, not under disk management or anything, pc doesn't recognize it.

The light is blue and its running fine. It still works if i connect it directly to my router and open the iomega networking software. But i can't seem to get it to work by directly connecting it to a pc rather than setting up a network for it.

Is there a way for me to configure it to work on my pc even though its intended for network use?
If so will it still work if i reformatted it for a different OS such as the xbox?

This is the drive i have http://www.amazon.com/Iomega-StorCenter-External-Network-33271/dp/B000AL98MU

The network drive probably has Linux partitions. An Xbox requires FAT32. You would need to delete the existing partitions and then repartition and reformat your drive as FAT32.

That said, if your drive doesn't show up in Disk Management or BIOS, then it could be that it is configured to Power Up In Standby (PUIS). If so, then PUIS cam be disabled with HDAT2. Also check for a PUIS jumper (PM2 on WD drives).
