Assuming that the factory recovery didn't throw up any errors, it matters not one iota what kind of mouse you used to do it with.
Freezes in Windows can be caused by any number of things so you have to do some troubleshooting & testing to eliminate those things which could be causing it.
Test the hard drive with diagnostic software for DOS which loads from a bootable CD. I recommend you test it with
Drive Fitness Test. Download the
CD image from here:
http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads/legacy-downloads#DFT
Then install
ImgBurn and use it to create a CD from the image file:
http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn
Now boot your PC from that CD - choose "
ATA only" when the menu appears, then press <Enter>.
The testing interface will appear on the screen.
If the drive is okay, test the RAM modules with
Memtest86. Download the CD image from here:
http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm#free
Create the CD same way as the hard drive testing CD and boot your PC from it.
Note: test each RAM module separately so you know which one has errors (if any).
