So i know Newegg charges sales tax on certain states they have warehouses in. My question is pretty simple. Newegg has a warehouse here in Tennessee. Which means we have Newegg sales tax. I'm tracking my recent order and it's not being shipped from the Tennessee warehouse. That doesn't seem right considering I'm paying tax for that reason. Should I Email Newegg and see what the deal is? Will anything come of it? Should I still have to pay the tax even though it's not even coming from my state?

Solution
Newegg has a presence in TN. You are shipping to TN. Ergo, they will charge sales tax.
Your specific part coming from somewhere else does not matter.
It seems to me that no one warehouse holds every item in the inventory of a major online store (Amazon, Newegg, etc). If I'm not mistaken that's why you can't count on any particular part coming from the closest warehouse. I live in New York and most big online stores have nearby shipping locations, but I often see packages coming from other locations.

Yes, but the item isn't coming from Tennessee. That's the point of tax. You pay it as long as it's coming from your state.

You pay the sales tax, because that business (Newegg) has a presence in your state.
(and you're supposed to pay that tax anyway)
