So as a civil engineer student I want something for MILD gaming in my downtime to help not stress but of these which would run autocad the best? I will be doing 2d designs mainly as my advisors say I won't be dealing with much 3d designs and I have special computers in my university for 3d. What should I be getting? There is the Lenovo y40 with the r9 275m and 2 sager laptops with the geforce gtx 850m and 860m. I'm not sure what other laptops I could look into but these are well priced specially the y40 as of now. What do you guys recommend, thanks for any advice!

I would get the 860M as it's more powerful than the 850M and the 275M and it'll last you longer so you won't have to buy another laptop.

But would it be decent at running autocad as some people say they don't work as great and others say R9 AMD cards run it just somewhat better. The R9 is also cheaper by 400 bucks. Not sure as I want to just buy a laptop tomorrow or today.

The GTX 860m is the most powerful graphics card out of the three. You will have more than double the framerate compared to the M275 while gaming.

GTX 860m>GTX 850m>R9 M275

@zeyuanfu you need to see the actual benchmarks to compare GPUs, not look at difference in their specs.

I will be doing mild 3d stuff but not sure if I will ever go big scale on those models though. I was thinking to be on the safe side I could go with a Dell Precision M2800 for $1200, which is what lots of people recommend to do. I don't want a GPU that might not be read into the program or even work properly and can't tell how the R9 M275 would act. What do you guys think I should do? Will there ever be graphic intensive 2d program models?
