Is this CPU cooler too big for my case?

It wouldn't fit. Height of the cooler is 159mm while your case supports a maximum of 153mm.

As to what you can do to make it fit, save from cutting a hole in the side of your case there is nothing. You would need a new case.

It won't fit. CPU cooler height limitation for that case is 153mm. The height of Hyper 212 EVO is 159mm. You could just leave case open as you cannot install the left side panel with the cooler inside. The other thing to do is make a hole in the left side panel. It must be big enough for the cooler to fit.

Cutting a hole seems like the more likely outcome. Would it effect the cooler's performance much if I did that? I mean, it'd only be sticking out by about a tenth of an inch...

I don't know whether there will be any diminish in performance. I wouldn't think so.
