Shouldn't my internet speed be faster?`

Hi again guys! :D
I just got a new internet modem, which allows my PC to connect at 1000MB/s instead of my old 100MB/s.
I have the gigabyte 970A-D3 (mobo) which does support the 1000MB/s, though my internet speed is still the same (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3946395105 <<< roughly same with both modems)

I've also moved the router closer and used a shorter cable to try and speed it up, no differences. I understand that i will never get the 1GB/s internet speed, but shouldn't it theoretically be 10x faster than before? (ADSL2+, not far from internet exchange either, NBN lines haven't been layed down here yet)

Solution
That's MB/s, or about 14.4Mb/s. Perfectly fine.

ADSL = Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Standard broadband over a phone line. Speeds are very dependant on distance from the DSLAM.
Firstly, you mean Mb/s not MB/s. There's an 8x difference between the two.

Secondly, networking works on bottlenecking. The slowest link in the chain limits the speed. As your 17 Mb/s ADSL line is the limiting factor, there will be no difference between 100Mb/s ethernet and 1Gb/s ethernet, because both are more than fast enough.

In many places, ADSL is sold at line speed - whatever the copper line can do, you get.
