We have an Emachine laptop (E627) which is about 4 years old.
It only came with 1GB memory which I believe is DDR2 PC2.
We have a 2GB memory module which has the following details on it
2GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 8500s - 07 - 00 - F0.

Can anyone tell me if this memory might be suitable to replace the existing 1GB module.

Solution
No. PC2=DDR2 PC3=DDR3. Put simply they are two different kinds of memory and are not compatible. The PC3 chip wouldn't even fit in the slot. Try getting this: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC2-5300-200-Pin-Notebook-CT25664AC667/dp/B000F7QRTG/
