So, do you think DirectX 12 will be coming to Windows 7? I'm hoping it will and after all, it's projected 52% of gamers use windows 7 so it seems strange to me for them not to bring it to windows 7. If not though it looks like I'll be upgrading to windows 10. If I do, will I be able to copy games and such over or will I be better to save pictures and files as external hard copies and redownload games? I know it's a while off from that yet, but not that long either.

I doubt they will bring DX12 to Windows 7 for the very reason you stated. They want people to feel they are missing out on something and upgrade. Considering how long it took for the game industry to program mostly in DX11, DX12 probably wont be adopted for at least a few years. Unless of course there are major performance increases. Personally, I am trying to keep an open mind regarding Windows 10 and am looking for a compelling reason to upgrade. But so far, there is no reason i can see to change from Windows 7 and for me DX12 isn't enough of a reason.

As for transferring games, it will be best to download and re-install them and backup files...
Whether or not DirectX 12 comes to windows 7 isn't really a big issue for anyone. It only concerns those who just barely push the graphics card they have with the CPU they have. Even more so, it will be years before DirectX 12 games even come around.

If you are really so much on the fence about windows 10 right now, you might as well plan to upgrade.

As for transferring games, it will be best to download and re-install them and backup files before the Windows 10 install. Windows 10 should be enough of a change to warrant fresh installs.
