Hey guys,

Like my title says I'm running a 2-year old rig and it's served me well since then. A few days ago I snagged a new GPU from Amazon for giggles, and with all the next-gen games coming out I've got the upgrade bug. Here's what I've got at the moment:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Mobo: ASRock 970 Extreme3
PSU: Corsair CX600 600W
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 (Soon to be replaced by Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: x1 500GB HDD, x1 250GB
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit

Overclocking: No
Purpose/Goal: Gaming, high-ish settings, 1920x1080 (eg. Dragon Age: Inquisition, Witcher 3, Lichdom: Battlemage, etc).
Upgrade Timeframe: 6 months to 1 year

I know 4GB VRAM is probably overkill at the moment, but it was only a few bucks more than the 2GB version so I decided why the heck not. As far as the CPU goes I'm itching for the AMD FX-8350 but I'm also wondering if I'd need a new mobo at that point, or if I should just stick with the chip I've got for a little while yet.

Thanks for any input.

Solution
Definitely grab the 8350, your motherbd can run it. I know I saw it on good sale for black friday so keep your eyes peeled for a similar cyber monday sale.
