I just bought my first gaming rig and was wanting to play Amra 3 on the highest settings but have read the AMD cpu's suffer from the game. Worst comes to worst I'm happy to play it on lower settings, as long as they're stable.

Here's the specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0Ghz
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo
RAM: 16GB 1600Mhz Corsair Vengeance LP
GPU: Sapphire AMD R9 290 4GB Vapor-x OC Edition
Mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Rev 4.0
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB SSD (Will be playing it on this)
Seagate 2TB HDD

I'll be running it on Windows 7 Home Premium. Also I will be overclocking the CPU, will I need to invest in a H100i? Or will the current cooler be capable of reaching 4.4Ghz or 4.5Ghz?

Thanks

I think you will be fine. Sure it taxes the cpu alot, but you still have a great gpu. I don't think you will be missing out on anything with that rig. The Hyper 212 is a awesome cooler for the money, but I do recommend an AIO h2o it to AMD users for overclocking. Any of the thicker, single radiator kits should be sufficient. They are all pretty much the same too as there are only a couple of real manufacturers of them.

You'll more than likely have a poor experience with Arma 3. You are correct that AMD CPU's don't do well in Arma 3, and it's because the game uses two cores and you need better single core performance.

Lowering settings almost never helps. If you have a good CPU and anything over a 270, you can max the game out. Have a CPU with poor single core performance though, and you'll get poor performance even on low settings.
