Can windows saved Apache Office files be used in Linux

On my Windows 7 platforms, I've been using Apache Office word processors and spreadsheets. I have many files saved from both.

Would Apache Office in Linux be able to load and use the Apache Office files I saved in Windows or would I need to do some type of conversion?

99.9% they will work just fine. Assuming you saved them in the default file format.

Yes thats the entire point of an open file format! "ODF"

Please note that most development was forked from apache office when Oracle took it over from Sun. Most people use LibreOffice as apache office is sort of abandoned.

Not entirely correct. It was Oracle that let OpenOffice languish, and most of the developers jumped ship to the newly forked LibreOffice. After letting it flop around for a while Oracle finally deeded OpenOffice to Apache where development is quite active.

I noticed Linux Mint installs with LibreOffice, and it sort of looks like the same thing. Guess I could play with both of them to see which one I like most.
