I didn't see a forum for Windows 10 stuff so selected 8. i made a partition of 41GBs on my hard drive already running 8.1. So I go through the Windows 10 setup and it tells me I can't install on the partition because...

I was trying to make a dual boot of 8 and 10.
And, i do not want to erase the drive as I have the other OS on it....

Solution

If you just want to evaluate it I would either make a bootable usb drive or run a sandbox program like Vmware. That way you should have no problems install next to your current OS and you will be able to test out the new system.

Never mind then, if u were on a flash drive then the issue u were experiencing is a pretty common problem with an easy fix, but since its on a dvd i have no clue. maybe try using a different partition, probably a good idea cause the tech preview isnt stable anyways and has caused data corruption in some cases.

Saying to use another drive isn't really a solution as I want a dual boot. Also, someone told me they were using Windows 10 tech for a few months and has performed fairly stable. I don't think it's a bug I can't even install the OS.

Id like to adjust what I said earlier, Windows10 is a pretty stable build, but if u have data that you can't afford to lose, or you have a pc that you can't have inoperable until you flash a new build you shouldnt install it.

Now why do you want to have a dual boot windows 10?
