Hello everyone!
I've been thinking about building my own PC for some time, and I've done a little bit of research. Now, I'm a complete newbie at this, so I wished to ask for a few tips.
I still don't have a build yet, but I have a few hunches. I primarily use my computer for working with digital illustrations (this means a lot of photoshop) and gaming (I'm definetely an enthusiast for games).

I consider PCs an investment, so I don't really plan on going on changing the components every year, so I'm wanting a fast and reliable computer from start. My budget is not tight, but I live in Brazil and prices here are very high (so I need to be kinda rational too)

However, I find it very hard to choose a CPU. I've been thinking about this one:

Intel Core i7-4790

But there are so many types of i7 that I'm lost. Is this a good one? Should I choose one with a bigger cache?

Also, some friends suggested to me these:

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB WINDFORCE

Also thinking about getting a SSD (for the OS) together with an HDD (for mass storage).

I have no idea if this is a good pair up, if it will bottleneck anywhere, or if I'm just wasting money etc. Perheps an i7 core is way too much for me?

Any tips in choosing a CPU would be awesome. When you built your PC, how did you choose yours?

Thank you in advance, and sorry for the lack of accuracy, but I'm kinda lost with all those CPUs and I feel I can't choose the rest of the components until I choose one.

The Core i7-4790 is a good choice, but it all depends what you want to do with the machine. If you only want to do web surfing and email, than you can definitely get away with something less expensive. The i7 is a good choice for processor intensive applications, such as video editing.

Its alot more than 65 dollars since you have to buy x99 and ddr4 memory.

In regards to a Game on for the next few years type CPU choices are pretty slim if your on a Tight budget. though as of right now with Current games and the not yet released titles You can go AMD or Intel for $100 or less. Intel There is only one choice and that is a Pentium G3258 with motherboard that can OC. which there are a lot of now since the recent BIOS versions for almost every Intel® 8 and 9 series Motherboards. I'd wanna get that Dual core up to 4.5Ghz myself.
AMD has a few routes. You could go power user and get the FX 6300 or go with the newer FM2+ and 88 Series Chipset , Athlon 760K or Kaveri

But the meat of the issue is the i7. There really is not a Budget oriented Build when going with an i7. The're the tipy top. And for good reason. Maybe not $50 just to unlock the Multiplier for K SKUs at face value .... but it is worth it once you Get overclocking. If you have the money and you need the HTT then i7 4790K along with a Decent Z97 MB is Choice. Not overclocking> i7 4771 or 4790 . You could get a i7 3770 but 7 not as many LGA1155 motherboards to choose from as last year(New)
i5 is teh gamers choice as far as Intel is concerned. The i5 2500k through 4690k will get the same results in games and benchmarks for the most part. Lost of threads with i5 4440 and 4460 but I think an extra 10-$15 for a 4570 or 4590 is worth it.

Thank you all for the answers!
My friends sugested to me the i7-5920k, but the price tag was double the 4790k where I live, for some odd reason.
Also, it should be noted that I'm not a fan of overclocking, so I don't think I'll be doing it (at least I don't think I'll have the necessity).

That's an interesting build, thanks! A little bit too much though :)
I just don't believe I would really need two GPUs. And this one specifically is fairly expensive here, so I'm thinking about taking one that is not the 'latest' thing.
The HDD and the SSD you chose were the ones I chose exactly :)

If you are not planning to do anything heavy, then you can drop the liquid cooling and go with a hyper 212 evo.

Edit: I just like liquid cooling because it is quieter and more efficient, but I do heavy stuff, so that's just me :)
