Hello everyone,

I need some help. I am trying to get my Netgear WNDR3400v3 readyshare to show up on my Vizio D650i-B2. I am not sure how to do it? I have a WD 1TB harddrive plugged into the netgear router and can access it from the computer but I cant access it from the Vizio D650i-B2 TV. Any help/suggestions?

Thanks,

Not sure and I did look around a bit. I do know you can connect the drive to a usb port on the tv, select the correct input, and stream your movies or photos. Sorry could not have been more help. Try that, and if it doesn't work, you may have more problems. The input I had to select was sd card. Hope this helps.

if I plug the hard drive into the smartTV it will play everything on the hard drive. My smartTV has an app called PLEX and I was thinking this would allow me to stream straight from readyshare (the hard drive plugged right into the router) to the tv with the plex app. I am wanting to do this to share the hard drive with all attached computers/dvd players/ tvs etc

It seems that your router can be flashed with DD-WRT - an alternative router firmware. You will loose ReadyShare (NetGear proprietary), but now the hard drive connected to the router will look as any other shared drive over the network.

Once you have DD-WRT up and running, you can add DLNA server (an example is given here.

Apart from Plex, most TVs also can act as DLNA clients, so you should be able to access your shared drive.

So essentially I SSH into it and reflash the router with the DD-WRT firmware and then plex will pick it up? wonder why plex doesnt see the readyshare? That seems promising though just a PIA.

Or better yet. after researching it appears you factory reset the router. flash it in the netgear gui and wait 5-7 min and now I should be able to telnet into the router? I hope I dont end up with a brick.
