Hey all, i've been looking to upgrade from this stock fx-4100 cooler to something a bit more beefy so i can start OCing, the problem is i have a pretty small motherboard and any coolers above 4.5" Wide will take up one of my ram slots, what would you guys recommend for a budget cooler smaller than this? Thanks - Sam

This should be able to fit with what you need, and it's affordable and also very effective, also very popular, it's also got a very long warranty of 6 years which I'm surprised. It won't beat the coolers I showed you probably, but it will get close and will be much quieter and effective than a stock cooler. Please check the specs yourself as well, and take note that the fan is more room.

Make sure this fits in your case, and I'm not sure about 4.5" but it fits all most all motherboards, but it is 160mm tall, which is about 6-7 inches. So make sure your case can hold this thing. This is the most popular cooler for the budget, and has great overclocking potential while staying mildly quiet or silent (You can adjust the fan). The quality is very high, it extracts heat very quickly and blows it out very quickly, the better your exhaust the better the cooler will perform and you can attach a 2nd fan to it. If you need anything smaller or cheaper, let me know! Also stock coolers generally are loud and inefficient, make sure you check the dust in your system. Also be aware overclocking takes up more power, so make sure you can support that. Not all CPUs will increase in performance while overclocking.

For easy install and nice temp on stock speed or even slight OC you can use SCYTHE Katana 4 or COOLERMASTER Hyper TX3 EVO,cheap and rly rly easy installation same as stock coolers and noise lvl is low, and something like EVO 212 is RAIJINTEK Aidos.
