Laptop slow WIFI internet access, while PC is very fast. What's the problem?

My PC is connected to the router via Ethernet cable and is running fast as per usual.

I've connected my laptop via WIFI to the same router for the first time in a long time, and it's very slow. Webpages take too long to load and in some cases initially display a page saying "unable to connect" before eventually loading the page. Facebook messages take at least 5-10 seconds to display the text..

My phone works just as fast on the PC, so it must be something to do with my laptop. The model is a Dell Inspiron 15 (not the best laptop by any means, but I know it performs much faster than it currently is).

Can someone help me troubleshoot this thing?

Thanks

I currently have WIFI switched off and am connected to the internet via Ethernet cable. The internet speed is very fast like it should be.

How do I go about doing this? Is there a certain update I'll need for my specific hardware etc?
  6. Now that we determined that the OS/browser isn't the issue - go to Dell's website and get the most current driver for your wi-fi adapter - see if that helps the problem.
  7. Trying to resolve this issue just led from one issue to another.

I downloaded the most recent WIFI / Bluetooth update. In order to install it, I had to switch on Bluetooth in the settings menu. It seems that retarded windows 8.1 came with a whole new set of bugs which resulted in not being able to open the settings menu. There's a bunch of ways to fix it, none of which worked for me. I lost patience and gave up.

The speed is fast on the laptop though, so perhaps the WIFI part of the update installed correctly. I'm not sure.

Either way, Windows 8 is the crappest os I've ever used.
  8. In my case
my labtop wifi slow down from 10m to 4m
I found solution to solve by

1.uninstall wifi driver at device manager with (no checkbox delete the driver).
2.rescan hardware your wifi driver will appear again.

that magic my wifi speed test up to 10m like lan pc.

Hi! I also have a DELL laptop, and it too, is seriously slow with wifi.. I have a Latitude E6510, with all (so it seems) drivers up to date...
I suspect it to be a driver fault...
I`m gonna try a bios update when I get my new battery in the mail. Now, im currently without battery, use only the AC-adapter at the moment.
If that has anything to do with it, I would feel realy stupid. hehe.. :p Pretty sure, that`s not it.
Maybee its time to replace the wifi chip??
I`ll give it a go, and return here with more info. :) The laptop is beginning to get old... like 3 years now. But, all the laptop`s I`we owned, had a good lifespan. Im sure, that if you take good care of you stuff, then you will have it for a looong time! :D
