Failure to POST (PSU/CPU/MOBO)

Hi, all. This is the first build I've ever encountered any problems, and boy is it a downer.

Installed everything in-case only to fail to POST. The case fans and HSF spun when turned on, however. Breadboarded it with the CPU, HSF, and a DIMM to again fail to POST but with functional fans.

Also, the installed motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth Z87) has multiple LEDs on it - a green one indicating standby power, and red ones individual to particular components (CPU, DIMM, peripherals) that indicate parts at fault (though specific causes are not described in the manual). The green and a red pertaining to the CPU were lit, leading me to believe that the CPU is at fault.

I checked the CPU and socket to find no perceivable damage, so the accuracy of what the LEDs are telling me and whether the PSU, CPU, or motherboard are the cause remains unclear to me.

All parts were purchased new.

  • ASUS Sabertooth Z87
    Intel i5-4690K
    G.Skill Value DDR3 1600 8(4x2)GB
    EVGA GTX 760
    Corsair HX750i
Any and all help is much appreciated!

No beeps - no speaker, though I'm thinking of heading down to RadioShack today to buy one. But I don't see how I can update the bios when I can't get it to boot.

I'm going to try to power another computer with this PSU to rule it out and hopefully that will narrow it down to the board and the CPU.
