Hello,
My internet speed (according to speedtest.net) is 57 Mbps download and 2.30 upload.
However, when I try to upload or download something (via FTP/utorrent) the max speed are: 2-4 Mbps download and Mbps up
I am connected to the router via cable. the router is D-Link 6850U. There are about 8 devices connected to the router but in 99% of the times they are not downloading/uploading big files, just browsing the internet.

Thank you very much!!

Solution
when I try to upload or download something (via FTP/utorrent)

1. That also depends on what that particular server can serve to you.

2. Be sure you're not confusing Mbps (what you see at speedtest) and MBps (what you may see from a FTP client)
Megabits per sec (from your ISP and speedtest) is approx 1/8 of MegaBytes per sec (what the FTP client reports).

Just because you can download at 57 Mbps does not mean the server on the other end you are getting the file from can upload at that speed. Internet speed is dependent on many things, traffic on the network, traffic on the file hosting server, and upload speeds of the server are the biggest factors. Also, many ISP's purposely throttle torrent download speeds.

My guess is what USAFRet said is probably correct, but I wanted to add something. With TCP, about 1/15th of your download must be upload as ACK packets. This means if you have a 60Mb connection, you will need to upload about 4Mb/s. If you're using something like torrent, and you're uploading while you're downloading, you will have even less free upload bandwidth, making your download slower. This shouldn't affect ftp unless you doing other things on your network.
