I am trying to install windows 7 over a raid 0 configuration (onboard raid controller from Asus 09x79 motherboard and 2x samsung evo 840 drives). So far this is what I have, I originally had installed windows 8 over this configuration and it worked with the exception of windows 8 not being too appealing.

So in my attempt to install windows 7 I am running into a bit of an issue. When I attempt to install windows 7, the installer does not detect any of my drives (I have 4 total, 2 in raid 0 configuration and 2 non-raid), it does not detect the non-raid drives either. If I disable the controller it will detect all of the drives during installation.

Is there something special needed for windows 7 to install over a raid 0 configuration? where as windows 8 seems to work with it right off the bat. To be more precise, is there something special needed for windows 7 installation disk to recognize the drives when raid controller is enabled?

Solution
Pretty sure you need to pre-install your RAID drivers in order for the Windows install to recognize your drives.

Download Intel's latest RAID drivers, extract the zip file, and copy the contents to a USB thumb drive.

When you begin your Windows install you should see a button labeled "Drivers". Click on it and load the drivers from your thumb drive. After the drivers are loaded continue with the install and see if Windows recognizes your drives.
