How much RAM should I use/Do I need for this build and what I will use it for?

I will be gaming on minecraft with shader packs and Far Cry 4 1080p. How much RAM should I get? My brother said I should get 8GB
this is my build except I will be using a different CPU http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Tomjhomerson/saved/XdNxFT
rather than the 6300, I will be using the AMD FX-8320.
S+Will 8GB ram be good? I would be using G.Skill Ripjaws Series

For gaming, 8GB is overkill in 99% of games.
For hardcore tasks (video editing, photoshop, etc.), 16GB will work, but again, 8GB is enough.

Honestly, unless you absolutely need 16GB of RAM (which you don't for gaming), there's just no reason to get more than 8GB.
