Whole PC lags after playing a demanding game.

Hello, I've had this problem since about 2 years. It's gotten really bad lately, to the point where I can't use my PC after maybe 40 minutes of demanding game-time. It's not the OS, I've tried 3 different Windows systems. After around 40 minutes, high-end games start to first freeze periodically for 1-10 seconds, then they simply crash/windows crashes and the whole PC starts lagging to the point of no return, just becomes ultra-slow and random programs start to freeze, mouse freezes etc.

Restarting the PC instantly doesn't help, the only thing that fixes this is simply waiting for some time with the PC off.(30 minutes maybe.)

I think it's the GPU, but I'm not entirely sure. I've checked my RAM with the Windows checking tool, I've checked the hard-drive, and I ran a PerformaceTest™, and everything seems to be in working order.

I've checked the temperatures on both CPU and GPU when the lags start happening, and they're also not too extreme.

I've re-applied thermal paste to both GPU and CPU just in-case, and it didn't seem to do anything although the thermal paste was almost gone.

Otherwise the PC works completely fine and dandy when I don't try and play any games.

Anyone know what could be the problem or what else I can try?

Thanks.

I've cleared all the dust I could find, and I'm not sure how to check the PSU temp.

I'm not even sure what PSU I have, all I know is it has "1000 Watts" on the side.

In that specs link does it say,

Memory Information:
Total Physical Memory: 4094MB
Available Physical Memory: 1723MB
Memory Devices:
Slot 1: 2GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600
A-DATA Technology DDR3 1600G
1.5V, Clk: 666.7MHz, Timings 9-9-9-24 (@ Max. freq.)

Slot 2: 2GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600
A-DATA Technology DDR3 1600G
1.5V, Clk: 666.7MHz, Timings 9-9-9-24 (@ Max. freq.)

Slot 3: 2GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600
A-DATA Technology DDR3 1600G
1.5V, Clk: 666.7MHz, Timings 9-9-9-24 (@ Max. freq.)
These three slots added together means 6gb while it states 4gb total memory.Maybe the ram get's filled after that time too?
Maybe check in the task manager how much ram is really available or with cpu-z.

As suggested is dust/heat also an option.

Hmm, yeah that's strange.

Anyway, I tried to turn on my PC just now and both my w8 and w7 is taking like 10 minutes to load. W8 loaded and was terribly slow from the start, it didn't even load the desktop in 5 minutes so I just turned it off. W7 just loads forever.

This never happened before. Yeah...

I also checked the physical ram, 3 sticks of 2 gb. One was wobbly so I took it out.

Well, it's back to normal(loading Windows.) But, still the same issue as in the OP.

It really does sound like overheating, but both the GPU and CPU temp after playing a game is fine. Gpu is 50-60c and CPU isn't far off except I don't remember the exact value th3 last time I checked.

Maybe making a log will help with determining if temps are a problem,

Download the next program=hwinfo32,

http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html

You can open hwinfo32,after that open the sensor window by marking sensors=V,after that click run,,then click at the bottom "Logging start" ,after that choose a name and place for the log.like Hwinfolog at your desktop.Leave it open and do game/stresstest or whatever you do until a crash. The log will end at that point but will be saved.
After the restart upload the log to a site without to much crap (!),for instance dropbox, and leave a link to it here. You could also look at the log yourself with either excel or libre office calc.

Hey guys, I just got a hard-drive from my old lap-top and I've been using it for 3 days. No lag at all, and when I switch to the old one the thing begins lagging like hell again.

Yeah. THanks!
