So, I'm having this problem which won't let me use my PC... After "starting windows" I just see a black screen with a cursor, nothing else. I've gone on to so many threads and the solutions either don't work or I can't try so I figured I would post here... Anyway, ctrl alt del isn't an option, it doesn't work... Safe mode just gets stuck at classpnp.sys. I don't have any installation disk/key (even though I know my win7 Ultimate is genuine, since I had to verify it a few months ago to download something from Microsoft). System restore says there aren't any points to restore it to. I have a spare old PC which may or may not help... Things like startup repair and chkdsk say there aren't any problems. I tried everything in the options of F8 as I boot, no help. What else can be done or will I have to get a new PC?

Thanks to anyone who has read this far and is willing to help me.

Actually you can download Windows ultimate 7 ISO and create bootable USB installer, do you still have access to product key windows?

ISO; http://www.techverse.net/download-windows-7-iso-x86-x64-microsofts-official-servers/

Bootable USB utility called RUFUS; http://rufus.akeo.ie/

sfc /scannow might also work. checks system file integrity

note# if you have any data you want to backup It's still possible by making a fully functional Bootable windows OS it's called "Windows to go" there is also something called PWboot to make it easier.
PWboot; http://reboot.pro/topic/6851-project-pwboot-latest-version-302/

Do...

Hey Patrick, thanks for the reply!

I read about the scannow, however it didn't work as I could only access the command prompt through startup repair. It says that I can't scan it since there is a repair pending and I have to restart. I read a handy article about launching notepad using cmds and I already have the files I want on another computer. I used a USB for this - so I could use that. It has 3.75 GB space on it.

So do you think I should reinstall windows using the ISO?
Thanks!
