I'm looking to get a second graphics card. But im not sure if i would be able to crossfire with my current card the vapor x 7970 ghz edition. Can the r9 series crossfire with the 7970 ghz edition? Which r9 card should i go with.

The reason i'm looking to crossfire is i bought a 1440p monitor and my games aren't running at 60fps like it was when i was playing at 1080p.

The games i will be playing would be watch dogs, assassins creed 4, and all of the newer "Next Gen"games.

I would like to play certain games with the directx 11 + Physx too. But is that only with the nvidia series cards?

Thanks in Advance

How much more performance would i get with a r9 280x vs a r9 280? What are the differences of the two cards?

When in CF, there a lot of factors that will affect performance so it's kinda hard to know. I have both, but I can't compare them because my CPUs are much different performance wise. Definitely don't get a R9 270x because it will bring down the performance of the 7970GHz and don't get a R9 290 because the 7970Ghz will bring down it's performance. Also I can't find info on CF compatibility between R9 280 and 7970GHz.

So i would want to go with a r9 280x?

Will the brand matter? I'm looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202125&cm_re=r9_280x-_-14-202-125-_-Product

its the Tri-X version from sapphire.
