Bios updates for z97 motherboards

Best to check the CPU compatibility list for the motherboard you are looking at, if the Mobo supports 4790k on the same version of bios as 4770k (4770k predates 4790k by exactly 1 year), if they are the same, then chances are you won't need to.

All of the Z97 boards will handle the new devil's canyon cpu's. Best to update to latest version after build is complete, though.
Some of the Z87 boards need a bios update if they have not been updated already. Most of the Z87 boards selling now, have updated bios versions that will handle the new cpu's.
