I have a Linksys 2500 wireless router connected to a cable modem and every hour or so my cable modem loses a connection (lights go out cable modem and it self-resets) to the internet. My cable company came in and replaced all their hardware plus tested my lines. The cable guy suggested that if the problem continues I may have a bad wireless router. He said that I could run an Ethernet cable directly to the cable modem to see if the problem went away. As you may expect I still have the problem so I did what he suggested and the problem went away. I just wanted to double check with you all before I go out and spend a couple of hundred on a new wireless router.

Can wireless routers knock out my cable modems connection to the internet?
.
Any suggestions on which router would be best. I have to support wireless B – N.

Thanks in advance
