Coolants vs. Distilled water

Hello,
I made a custom water cooling loop and right now I am using distilled water. I know that I have to change it every year or so, but I am wondering if I were to switch to a premixed coolant would I need to do the same thing? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Yeah, when I had a water cooler on my old setup, I read around and it's usually noted that there no improvement of using a premixed coolant vs. distilled water. If anything, the premixed stuff decreases the heat transference ability of water.

+1 the more dedicated amongst us swear by plain distilled and a killcoil, more coils depending on the size of your loop doesnt hurt any, premixes break down over time and dont cool as well, and I also personally use uv cathodes in two of my resses that also kills biogloopies, I havent changed my water in about two years, maybe longer, only topped up as needed or if Ive added to the loop :)
TL,DR? Water and killcoils, no premix
