Hello, and thanks for your time. I have an HP Phoenix H9-1350 and SMART drive detects an "imminent failure". I want to go to an SSD and HDD setup anyway. The pc came with a 2TB Seagate Barracuda(the failing drive) coupled with a 16GB cache drive. If I buy a Samsung 850 pro, take out the cache drive and the HDD, can I just plug it into the same connector the cache drive is using and use my recovery discs to install windows on it? Is that how it works? (I don't care about trying to save any data on the HDD). Thanks in advance!

Solution
Usually the recovery will not work on other hardware than the original one. You can ask hP/check their website to be sure. I woul still go the clean windows install route, so to avoid all the HP bloatware. You should have a windows code that came with your pc and you can use it again. You might have to contact microsoft support to get it registered again.
