Hey guys,

I have recently purchased an HP Small Form Factor 6300 desktop PC and am hoping to use it for light gaming (Dota 2, CS:GO, SC2, Borderlands3, etc.) It has an i5-3470 and 4GB of RAM. From what I have read on this forum and on various parts of the internet, there are several limitations to this PC such as: 1) Case size limits GPU and hardware, 2) PSU is proprietary and can't be changed (easily anyways), 3) MOBO may not be compatible with certain hardware.

I imagine my options are: A) find a compatible GPU (List of GPU on page 7), B) Build a PC from scratch, using the i5 and 4GB of RAM, C) Somehow rewire a separate PSU to power a better GPU.

What should I do? :??:

& Thanks for your time!

Build it from scratch with the i5 and 4gb ram
Or Just start all over again
The case, motherboard, powersupply could easily not be compatible with all the hardware to play games
Do you maybe have a link to your pc?

Unfortunately I do not have a link to the PC... the following doc has information regarding it though - Click Here

I've never removed a CPU from a motherboard, is this safe/recommended? Anything I should be aware of? Other than that I'll need some thermal paste for the new motherboard if I do decide to move it?

Thanks

Removing the CPU is safe if you touched metal or have a anti static band and never use pressure so i think that is safe
A gaming motherboard is very different from a normal one because i can go against heat much easier and you can overclock

I was also considering removing the optical drive in this desktop pc to replace with another 500GB hard drive (from an older computer to preserve data). Would adding another hard drive be too much for the PSU?

Appreciate the answers by the way, thanks.
