I'm interested in knowing what everyone's thoughts are about this motherboard as I'm considering it for a build.

What are the downfalls of this motherboard, and what are some positive notes?

I definitely recommend that line of motherboards they're very solid. and the -A version should be able to overclock decently, it also contains Asus Fan Xpert2 in Bios settings really nice for settings up fan speeds quickly. It worked very well for my Phanteks Enthoo Pro case. I've been using this type of boards and all the bios versions seem to work with no problems.

Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
I'm not sure what audio needs you have but, you might want to consider another board if so or buy sound card. I've been content with the sound though but might buy something in the future.

I do not experience any popping or crackling using on board audio.

In short this board will most likely not give you any headaches ;)
