What does maximum frequency mean compared to cpu usage.

Hey there,

I noticed my cpu was running at maximum frequency while gaming and my cpu usage was at ~50%.

I was wondering what the differences are between the two and what it means to play games with my cpu at maximum frequency.

Thanks

No, if anything having it run at normal speed would make games play better.

If you are asking about issues with games, you may want to start over and ask the question you are actually looking for an answer to. Include all details about the system, what game(s) and exactly...
To save power CPUs normally ramp down their speed when idle or when performing simple calculatoins, when it needs to do more work, it will go up to it's full speed.

It does not really mean anything aside from the fact that the CPU is running at full speed in instead of in power saving speed.

I was having a few issues in some games where my framerate dropped. Can this be caused by having it running at maximum frequency? Even though the usage it at 50%?
