i would say so, though the USB stick reedo_43 posted has 5dbi antenna vs the TP links 2dbi.

second has some more connection types, i have the first.
I am quite fond of TP-links PCI and PCIe wireless cards. Dont get a single antenna card though, go for at least the double ones. Tenda are OK but i would go with a Rosewill adapter before Tenda. Obviously Linksys and the other big names will do just fine too. Make sure you know the speeds you get out of your router and if its a/b/g/n etc. You want a good match here.

Thanks, Beezy. I have a real basic Linksys WRT120N Modem. What is the easiest way to find the speed and other specs it delivers? I'm pretty sure my machine has the old PCI slots.

I just saw that there are USB wireless adapters out there. Would one of those work? I don't see that they have any antennae. What's with that?

you want a wireless PCIe card that is capable of 300 mbps and has two antennas, preferably antennas you can unscrew and upgrade. Your Router/Modem has no external antennas and it can be a bit harder to hold a signal so you will want your PCI/PCIe card to have good antennas, consider purchasing upgrade extended antennas for better signal (test it out first though)

I use this with Windows 7 with no issues ever. I moved it into a Windows 8 PC and it is not so great at handling the hardware, it drops connections etc.. I hate windows 8.

I would avoid a USB adapter over a PCI or PCIe adapter. The USB are not terrible but you will see better signal with a PCI + antennas over any USB dongle.

I just found an article that showed me the difference between PCI and PCIe, and I definitely have the old PCI. So I guess a PCI card with 2 antennae and wirelessN is my best bet, yes?

Thanks again for your help.
