I am putting together a gaming PC and want to know what hardware I should get, my budget is $1200. Also I haven't played many games so what are good examples of games which are well pc optimized and run smoothly even if they are older titles.

With this budget you can run all modern games on ultra 60 fps at 1080p resolution.

Basically you want an i5-4690 (K if you want to OC) and a GTX970.
Get a good H97 mobo (Z97 if you want to OC), 1TB HDD, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM and a nice 600W PSU.
