Can you get a separate ADSL modem? I would recommend trying to separate the modem from the router. By separating the two, you can reuse the router in the event you switch internet providers. A combined unit won't work if you switch to a coax or fiber internet.

I am not sure I know how to reply to that. The WAN is the "wide area network" provided by you internet service provider. A modem (either discrete or integrated) provides the necessary handshake to convert the WAN signals to a LAN signal. Your router connects to the modem and allows multiple hosts to share a single connection to the internet.
