mac vs pc for 3d animaion?

I'm about to start on the road to being a computer animator and I need to know what I should get a pc or a mac. The current university that I will be attending have all Mac's for this. But I still don't know what would be easier for me to learn on and cheaper.

While you could build a pc cheaper, but the school you are attending is using MACs exclusively. I would ask some of the instructors about this. If you go with a MAC, you'd at least gain some familiarity with it, and be able to us the school equipment easier. Also there may be specific software requirements needed for assignments and stuff, and that software may only be available for MAC.

The real question is what do you need for these courses, not necessarily for 3d animation.
