Question about GPU cooling

Hello,

I'm planning to build a PC mainly for gaming but also some other things, I already have all the parts selected, but I'm worried about cooling. I am planning to use a Zalman Z11 HF1 chassis, and my initial plan was to have one 120mm intake fan in the front also cooling the drive bays, one 120mm exhaust fan in the back, the CPU heatsink fan pointing towards the exhaust fan to get the hot air out and one more 120mm intake or exhaust fan either on the top or the bottom of the chassis. I have consulted this with a friend who built his own PC, and he said I should have a fan on the side to get the hot air from the GPU out. The problem is, that the chassis I picked does not have any side vents (it has a transparent panel). Do I really need that fan on the side, if I'm going to use a GTX 750ti which does not run as hot as the R9 270x that my friend used? If I am not taking what he said extremely seriously because he is very obsessed with cooling and jokingly said "I'm not going to stop until it's snowing in that f*cker", but I just want to be sure.

Here are the rest of my specs:

CPU: AMD FX-6300
MOBO: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
RAM: Kingston 8GB KIT DDR3 1866MHz CL10 HyperX Fury Red Series
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1000GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750ti (not sure what brand yet, I'm saving it until I buy the components because the online retailer that I'm buying it from changes the prices all the time, but recommendations are welcome)
Chassis: Zalman Z11 HF1
Add. case fans: 2x AIREN Red Wings 120 (the case comes with only one supplementary fan)
Network adapter: TP-LINK TL-WN751N
CD/DVD drive: Samsung SH-224DB
PSU: Enermax NAXN ENP500AGT 500W

Thank you in advance.

If you do use a side fan, it should almost always be as an intake, to provide the GPU with fresh, cool air.

That being said, there's absolutely no reason for you to worry about that - even the 270x, while it does run hot, doesn't even remotely require a side fan. They're mostly useful when you have multiple graphics cards with slim gaps between them - then the fan is useful to make sure that what little air they do suck up is fresh air rather than warm air from the card below them.
