Hey guys :D !
im thinking of buying a new cpu cooler because mine reaches high temperatures ONLY WHEN RENDERING VIDEOS IN SONY VEGAS.

my cooler is enermax t40
fractal design r4
gigabyte gaming 5 z97x : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K9R1H1K?psc=1&red...
gtx 660
hdd 1tb and ssd 250gb
this ram: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DH9I3FA?psc=1&red...

my temps sky rocket to 80-96.
which noctua should i get
and will it leave enough clearance for my ram and gtx 660 video card.

Solution

Hmm okay looks pretty good
i hope it lowers my specs a lot when rendering videos in sony vegas :(

Why not go watercooling then and be assured everything will fit with plenty of room and lots of airflow? The Cooler Master Nepton 240M should be cheaper than Cosair H100i and runs much quieter and a few degrees cooler!

RAM height compatibility can be a nightmare!

hmm okay then but i want to know if the watercooling you recommended is AS good or BETTER than the noctua? and is it easy to fit?

ph-tc12dx hm.,.. maybe but if i get that i might as well get a noctua d14 for the same price haha
in fact on scan its only £39.99 and it just seems like it wont cool MUCH better than my COOLEr already (enermax t40 blacktwister) so im going for watercooling or the NOCTUA d14.. nothing cheaper because it obviously wont cool as good :)

Didn't notice the price, I got TC12DX at a much lower price than U12s, a good 1/3 less. The reviews I had seen with TC12DX and U12s is that they are both very comparable to that of D14's performance.

I went with the TC12DX anyway, I don't trust watercooling nearly enough to consider it as an option, and I didn't plan to OC 4790k any higher than 4.4GHz.

I have the parts, but I had to return the mobo because there was something on it I didn't like, so it is unfortunately not built yet. I should have it made by the end of the week. Yes, I do have 4790k and I went with PH-TC12DX because it looked like it'll do the job and it's pretty reasonably priced.

I will post my results whenever I have them.
